In a commanding display of batting prowess, Australia Women emerged victorious against India Women in the 3rd ODI at Wankhede Stadium. With the victory, the tourists also registered a clean sweep in the three-match series.
Opting to bat after winning the toss, Australia posted an imposing total of 338/7 in their 50 overs. Phoebe Litchfield was the star of the show, amassing a brilliant 119 runs off 125 deliveries, including 16 fours and 1 six.
Captain Alyssa Healy contributed a formidable 82 runs, while Ashleigh Gardner and Alana King added quick runs towards the end with scores of 30 and 26, respectively. Shreyanka Patil stood out with the ball, claiming 3 wickets for 57 runs in her 10 overs. Pooja Vastrakar and Deepti Sharma also made contributions with the ball, taking 1 wicket each.
In reply, India Women faced a formidable target but struggled to build partnerships, eventually being bowled out for 148 in 32.4 overs. Smriti Mandhana top-scored with 29, but the Indian batters found it challenging to counter the disciplined Australian bowling attack.
Georgia Wareham was the wrecker-in-chief, securing 3 wickets for just 23 runs in her 6.4 overs. Litchfield was named Player of the Match as well as Player of the Series.
The action between the two cricketing nations continues with the upcoming first T20I scheduled for Friday, January 5, at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy.
