Sri Lanka lost the first Test against Australia by an innings in Galle. The second match will be played at the same venue, starting on February 6. It will also mark the 100th and final Test for the former Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne. Australia will aim for a series whitewash, while Sri Lanka will look to secure a draw.
The pitch at Galle International Stadium is renowned for favoring spinners, especially as the match advances. In the initial two days, fast bowlers can capitalize on the moisture and humidity, extracting seam movement and swing. However, this advantage diminishes swiftly as the surface dries out. From Day 3 onwards, the pitch transforms into a spinner’s delight, generating sharp turn, unpredictable bounce, and deceptive variations, making batting increasingly difficult.
