New Zealand unveil women’s squad for the upcoming home white-ball series against England

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) have revealed the Women’s squad for the upcoming home white-ball series against England. Rosemary Mair and Brooke Halliday have made their comeback to the limited-overs side, adding depth and experience to the team.

Rosemary Mair’s Super Smash performance earns her spot

Mair’s impressive performance in the Super Smash, where she picked up 14 wickets in 10 matches, has earned her a spot in the squad. This marks her return to the team since being part of the New Zealand setup for their tour of Sri Lanka last year.

Halliday, who missed the T20I and ODI series against Pakistan due to a foot injury, is set to make her return to the squad after recovering. Her inclusion adds strength to the team’s batting lineup.

Leigh Kasperek and Eden Carson gets the nod

Leigh Kasperek, with 17 wickets in the Super Smash competition and 18 wickets in the one-day tournament, has been selected for the series as well. Her selection is for the fourth and fifth T20Is, while Eden Carson has been named for the first three matches.

Sophie Devine to Lead the Team

Sophie Devine, currently playing in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024, will lead the team, which also features players like Amelia Kerr and Lea Tahuhu, who are participating in the Indian T20 league. Notably, New Zealand will name three stand-by players to provide cover in case Devine, Kerr, and Tahuhu are unavailable due to WPL commitments at the start of the series.
