Pakistan levelled the series against Ireland with a convincing seven-wicket victory in the second T20I on Sunday. After being asked to bat first, Ireland posted a competitive total of 193 runs for the loss of seven wickets. In response, Pakistan chased down the target comfortably in 16.5 overs, powered by outstanding performances from Mohammad Rizwan (75* off 46) and Fakhar Zaman (78 off 40).
However, ahead of the game against Ireland, an unfortunate incident occurred for the team led by Babar Azam, as their star pacer, Shaheen Shah Afridi, engaged in a heated argument with an Afghan fan.
In recent times, Pakistan and Afghanistan have had numerous closely contested matches in white-ball formats, often accompanied by heated exchanges among fans in the stands. Afghan supporters have been known to taunt and ridicule Pakistan players.
A similar incident occurred when Shaheen was making his way from the dressing room to the ground, and an Afghan fan began using offensive language towards the Pakistani pacer. Initially, Shaheen addressed the fan regarding his behaviour, but when it persisted, Shaheen promptly notified security personnel. The security team acted swiftly and removed the fan from the venue.

The 24-year-old cricketer accomplished a significant milestone by reaching 300 wickets in international cricket. His dismissal of Ireland captain Paul Stirling marked this historic achievement. Throughout the match, he delivered an impressive performance, finishing with figures of 4-0-49-3.
Shaheen was recently nominated alongside Namibia skipper Gerhard Erasmus and UAE batter Muhammad Waseem for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for April 2024. However, he fell short, and Waseem clinched the prestigious award.
