India annihilate South Africa in 3rd T20I to level the Women’s T20I series

India Women dominated the third and final T20I of the South Africa Women’s tour of India 2024, securing a convincing 10-wicket victory at the MA Chidambaram Stadium and levelling the series.

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, India Women displayed exceptional bowling discipline. Pooja Vastrakar emerged as the wrecker-in-chief, claiming a stellar 4/13 spell within just 3.1 overs. The South African batting line-up crumbled under pressure, with only Tazmin Brits (20 runs) and Anneke Bosch (17 runs) managing to cross the ten-figure mark. The entire team was bundled out for a meager 84 runs in 17.1 overs. Other Indian bowlers, including Radha Yadav (3/6), chipped in with crucial wickets, restricting the visitors to a below-par total.

Smriti Mandhana takes India over the finish line

In response, the Indian openers, Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana, stitched together a match-winning partnership. Verma struck a brisk 27 runs off 25 balls, while Mandhana anchored the chase with a sublime 54 runs off 40 deliveries, including eight fours and two sixes. Their unbeaten 88-run stand ensured India chased down the target comfortably within 10.5 overs, showcasing their dominant batting performance.
